Join us this Saturday, June 14, 2014, 1 to 5 p.m., for a classic car rally and sock hop, inspired by the work of our newest Artist Laureate, Murray Tinkelman.
We’ll roll out classic cars–every thing from Corvettes to British motor cars; take your photo or sketch these beautiful automobiles in the style of Mr. Tinkelman. Get your groove on our Terrace from 1 to 3 p.m. with 1950s/1960s music performed by The Malibu Brothers. And don’t miss the final weekend of the exhibition, Baseball, Rodeos, and Automobiles: The Art of Murray Tinkelman–the artist will provide a talk about his work at 2 p.m.
From 4:30 to 6 p.m., enjoy a private ceremony for Tinkelman, an acclaimed artist and illustration historian, as he receives our 2014 Artist Laureate Award. Remarks will be followed by a wine and cheese reception.
Admission to the Car Rally is free with Museum admission; admission to the Artist Laureate Award ceremony costs $20, and includes admission to the Museum and family event.
