Painting in Song—Visions of Norman Rockwell
Saturday, August 11
5:30 p.m.

Paintings in Song is a multi-disciplinary art collaboration between Berkshire-based composer John Myers, choral ensemble Crescendo and its Artistic Director Christine Gevert, and the Norman Rockwell Museum.  Spend an evening as we present the video recording of its premiere performance at Saint James Place in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, recorded on April 1, 2017.  This presentation will be followed by remarks from John Myers, Christine Gevert and Norman Rockwell Museum Deputy-Director and Chief Curator Stephanie Plunkett as they speak about the creative process that went into this unique collaboration.  Free for Museum members, or included with Museum admission.

Land Acknowledgement

It is with gratitude and humility that we acknowledge that we are learning, speaking and gathering on the ancestral homelands of the Mohican people, who are the indigenous peoples of this land on which the Norman Rockwell Museum was built. Despite tremendous hardship in being forced from here, today their community resides in Wisconsin and is known as the Stockbridge-Munsee Community. We pay honor and respect to their ancestors past and present as we commit to building a more inclusive and equitable space for all.
