Norman Rockwell Museum Receives First Place in Prestigious Publication Awards

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass.— The Norman Rockwell Museum has received three publication awards for creative work entered in the New England Museum Association's 2005 Competition. The awards, which recognize excellence in design, production, and effective communication in all aspects of museum publishing on paper, were awarded to the Museum for work completed in 2004. Entries were judged by a panel experienced in publication, design, marketing and communication, with awards given to those entries that most effectively presented their message to the intended audience. The Museum's awards included first place in the category of invitations for exhibitions for Building Books: The Art of David Macaulay (project director: Kimberly Rawson, in-house designers: Mary Herrmann and Toni Kenny) first place for supplemental materials for the booklet, Looking Around Stockbridge (project directors: Melinda Georgeson and Kimberly Rawson, in-house designers: Mary Herrmann and Toni Kenny), and an honorable mention for the 2004 Annual Appeal card ((project director: Kimberly Rawson, in-house designer: Toni Kenny). There were 211 publications from 78 museums entered in nineteen different categories, and winners will be exhibited at the New England Museum Association's annual conference in Burlington, MA, from November 16-18, 2005. All entries will be donated to the Boston Public Library after the conference.
